The three main stages of the US educational system are elementary, and post-secondary education.
The typical path of progression or the steps which students take from their first year at playful school until they finish their education may look as follows:
Children usually start out primary education at the age of . Before that they may attend first nursery school and then . Primary school lasts between six and eight years. From there, students go on to education. The most common forms of secondary education are a six year combined junior-senior or a three year high school and a three year high school. Four year high schools are also quite common. Students attend this type of school if they attended a school before or went to primary school for a longer time ( years instead of six).
At the age of 17 or 18 US students obtain what is commonly called their high school , which ends their compulsory education and entitles them to go on to education.
The first degree students usually get after four years of undergraduate studies is the degree, after obtaining a degree, students then they have two possibilities. They can either go on to take a degree, which takes two years and then get a doctor's degree, which is commonly called a PhD degree or they can go on to professional school and study fields like law or and then go on to get a PhD degree. After that students can engage in postdoctoral and studies.
